Qiong-Di has specialised in the fertility field and in the treatment of both female and male infertility for the last 17 years.  She gained clinical experience in the fertility area in China, and has personally developed an effective and natural method of fertility treatment.  Qiong-Di’s fertility program is tailored to suit each individual couple and has effectively improved both female and male fertility and enhanced the success rate of in vitro fertilisation (IVF).  This specialised fertility program aims to help couples to achieve pregnancy, lower the risk of miscarriage, induce a natural labour, and in doing so help to achieve your dream of a family, from conception to birth.  The success rate of this fertility program is 60-70%.

There are many causes of female infertility ranging from simple to complex, many of which can be helped with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.  In general, the traditional Chinese approach to female fertility begins by looking at a woman's menstrual cycle and attempting to regulate it.  The aim is to clear any stagnation of qi and blood, and create an abundance of kidney yin and yang energy that is vital for good fertility.

Men suffer from fertility issues almost as frequently as women.  In fact, between 35 percent and 40 percent of fertility problems among couples are attributable to male factors.  These include low sperm count, abnormal sperm shape and size, and reduced motility.  Lifestyle, genetics, and physiological changes can also raise or lower male fertility, and can significantly affect a man's ability to become a father.  Qiong-Di’s fertility program can address these issues, leading to significant increases in the number of normal sperm and equally significant reductions in structural defects.  This program can improve overall sperm quality, leading to the possibility of increased fertility.

Qiong-Di’s Two Fertility Programs

  1. Natural Chinese Herbs and Acupuncture Fertility Program (Q&D Acu-Herb Fertility Program)

  2. Q&D Acu-Herb-IVF Enhancement Program

1. Natural Chinese Herbs and Acupuncture Fertility Program (Q&D Acu-Herb Fertility Program)

This program is a natural and non-invasive method to improve your chances of pregnancy.  The program is suitable for both female and male fertility issues.  It is tailored to meet the needs of each individual couple and takes into account their body constitution and Chinese medicine pattern.  The program can be modified to factors in pre-ovulation, conceiving, and post-ovulation timing.

In order for fertilization to occur, the yin, yang, qi, and blood of the kidneys all need to be perfectly balanced.  When one or more of these elements is out of balance, a disharmony results and infertility may occur.  When diagnosing infertility, it is important to differentiate clearly between cases of depletion and cases of excess.

This program aims to support and improve the deficiency of yin, yang, qi, and blood; and to clear excesses of cold, heat, phlegm, and dampness, as well as stagnation of qi and stasis of blood which cause obstruction of the Chong and Ren channel. When these pathogenic factors harmonize, fertilisation can occur.  One course of the programme usually lasts for 3-6 cycles of menstruation (90-180days).  Some severe cases may require 6-9 cycles of menstruation in order to rebalance your hormones and regulate your period.  Most women will become pregnant over one course of treatment.  Please see the many testimonials from clients on my website.

Chinese medical preparation for females and males before IVF

For female fertility issues resulting from the aforementioned conditions, we highly recommend that approximately three months prior to the IVF procedure, the patient receives acupuncture and herbal treatments to regulate the body’s functions and make IVF more successful.  Sometimes, just after this three-month treatment, a patient can regain a normal menstrual cycle and become pregnant naturally.

During the three-month preparation time, the main objectives of Chinese medical therapy are to:

  • Improve the function of the ovaries to allow for development of better quality eggs and strong, healthy embryos.

  • Regulate oestrogen and progesterone levels, thereby thickening the lining of the uterus and lowering the FSH levels.

  • Reduce stress and strengthen the immune system in both females and males, thereby increasing their sexual functions.

  • Improve semen quality and quantity and promote sperm maturation.

Chinese Medical Treatment programmes during IVF

This is the most important stage in the IVF process for both Western and Chinese medicine.  When these two systems of medicine are used in conjunction with one another, success rates have been significantly improved.  This programme consists of three components of treatment for long cycle IVF and two components for short cycle IVF.

Part one: inactive the ovarian stage (Oral contraceptive pills and down regular injection time)

This stage is for long cycle IVF.  Normally, patients commence the contraceptive pill from day two of the menstrual period for 3-5 weeks, further around two weeks of down regular injection to silent the ovarian and thin the lining of uterus.  During this stage, the patient is supported with Chinese herbs and acupuncture in order to regulate liver qi, fortify the spleen, and support the patient both mentally and physically.  The whole process seeks to calm the spirit and relax the person.

Part two: Ovarian stimulation stage

At this stage, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine should be used to support the kidneys, fortify the spleen, nourish the blood, and improve the blood flow in the ovaries.  This produces better quality and quantity of follicles and thickens the lining of the uterus in order to prepare for the transfer of embryos.  It can also reduce the unwanted side effects of drugs including headaches, moods swings, hot flushes, bloating etc.  Another benefit is that of quietening the mind resulting in less restlessness, insomnia, and anxiety.  IVF treatment can be stressful for many couples and this treatment can aid in reducing emotional stress and improving coping capacity.  The schedule of ultrasounds, blood work, injections and so on can have you feeling fragile.  We are here to help you and your spouse to get through it.

Part three: Transfer and post-IVF waiting time

After the egg collection, there are few days of waiting for the embryos to be transferred.  You may experience nervousness and anxiety about the fertilisation process.  How are the embryos’ progressing and developing?  Those feelings can make you feel restless, leading to a restless uterus, which is not a good environment for embryo transfer.  Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can reduce the risk of ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome and can aid in a speedy recovery of the ovary following after egg harvesting.  The treatment can also calm the uterus and increase the chance of conception following IVF.

Following embryo transfer, our Fertility Programme’s aim is to assist blood circulation in the uterus, maintain implantation of the embryo, and nourish embryo growth.  The programme also encourages relaxation of the uterus to prevent uterine contractions that could cause bleeding and miscarriage.  After a positive pregnancy test, the Q&D Acu-Herb-IVF Enhancement Program will continue to support you until the twelfth week of your pregnancy or, if required, to full term.
